YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS.  The 2027 World Weightlifting Championship will take place in Armenia.

The International Weightlifting Federation has decided to award Armenia the right to host the 2027 World Championship. The application was submitted to the International Federation by Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Ministerof the Republic of Armenia. This will be the first World Championship in an Olympic sport to be held in Armenia.

At the European Weightlifting Championship held in Yerevan in 2023, Armenian weightlifters won a total of 36 medals, including 12 gold, 11 silver, and 13 bronze medals.

The heads of the European Federation awarded the Armenian side with souvenirs for the best organization of the European Weightlifting Championship.
