YEREVAN, JUNE 9, ARMENPRESS. Azerbaijan day by day faces new problems, political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan told reporters on June 9, reports Armenpress.

“Over the past two years predictable developments are being held in Azerbaijan one after another, in other words, it can be stated that the tactic to cover up the domestic problems no longer works which is linked with their number. Azerbaijan is unable to solve the problems through former methods. I think the recent strengthening of repressive regime, the arrests show that with such methods they try to control the processes until they will find a solution”, the political scientist said.

According to him, Azerbaijan has no potential to start a war, or even reach any success.

“Especially after the January sabotage attempt failure Aliyev understood that his special forces are not ready to that scenario. He has no confidence that they can reach success, but there will be local clashes, demonstrative incidents which will make more visible the degree of tension, this will also be accompanied by providing respective information at different political levels. The last report of this crisis group is the vivid evidence of this. Unable to increase the level of tension through a war, they try to make the assessments of such research centers as political factor”, Melik-Shahnazaryan said.
