YEREVAN, APRIL 28, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan on April 28 hosted Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina to Armenia Gonzalo Urriolabeitia, press service of the Government told Armenpress.

The PM said the two countries have firm friendly relations thanks to the vibrant Armenian community of Argentina, and Armenia is ready to expand the cooperation agenda in the fields of bilateral mutual interests. PM Karapetyan attached importance to the development of trade-economic ties, stating that although Argentina has a great share in terms of foreign investment volumes in Armenia, the trade turnover figures are not satisfactory, and still many works need to be done for fully utilizing the existing potential. The PM proposed to consider the issue on holding a business forum for the Argentine business in Armenia or organizing open days aimed at getting acquainted with the investment opportunities of markets of Armenia and the third countries. The PM considered also the holding of Argentine Wine Week in Armenia as successful.

In his turn Ambassador Gonzalo Urriolabeitia said Argentina always attached importance to the development of relations with friendly Armenia which today are at a high level and it is necessary to work so that this approach is equally reflected in the field of economic partnership. He stated that the Embassy is actively working with Armenia’s respective state agencies on mutually beneficial investment programs and presented details on their implementation process.

The sides agreed that the agriculture sector is strictly important for the bilateral economic cooperation. They exchanged views on organization of agribusiness, acquiring of agricultural machinery and techniques, holding consultations. Both officials highlighted the necessity to take steps aimed at boosting tourism.
