ECHR denies ex-deputy defense minister Shirkhanyan’s appeal
12:05, 29 March 2017YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS. The European Court of Human Rights rejected Vahan Shirkhanyan’s September 16, 2016 appeal. Shirkhanyan is the former deputy minister of defense of Armenia and is currently serving a prison term in the Yerevan-Kentron correctional facility.
Shirkhanyan had requested an interim measure to be imposed under the Court’s rule 39, the justice ministry told ARMENPRESS.
The European Court notified the Armenian government on the matter on February 9, 2017, demanding to present the copy of medical documents on Shirkhanyan, which was sent to the European Court as requested.
As result, having studied the documents of both the Armenian government and Shirkhanyan, the Court rejected Shirkhanyan’s appeal.
