Political scientist expects certain changes in Armenia’s internal political life in 2017

YEREVAN, JANUARY 16, ARMENPRESS. Political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan says this year certain changes are expected in Armenia’s internal political life, reports “Armenpress”.

“The parliamentary elections will be held in April. I think, the political processes following the elections will be interesting rather than the election results since the country is transferring to a new political system”, Iskandaryan told reporters on January 16.

He said it is going to be quite an interesting period since two different political systems, presidential and parliamentary systems will be intertwined.

Referring to the Karabakh issue, the political scientist said he doesn’t expect a negotiation change.

“It is already several years the OSCE Minsk Group is working on reducing the tension in the line of contact as much as possible or keeping the violence in a certain frame, rather than being engaged in the attempts to settle the conflict”, he said, adding that he doesn’t predict large-scale operations from Azerbaijan this year.
