YEREVAN, JANUARY 16, ARMENPRESS. Turkish columnist of “Cumhuriyet” newspaper Aydın Engin published an article entitled “Garo Paylan is Hrant Dink” about the murder of famous Armenian journalist Hrant Dink and lawmaker Garo Paylan who today continues Dink’s work in Turkey.

“Already 10 years have passed since His murder. 10 years have passed from the time when the Prime Minister, currently the President, coming to His home, gave a promise saying: “We will not allow this crime to be lost in Ankara’s dark labyrinths”. However, the provocateurs, those fondling the faces of murderers, those throwing bloody stones on the way of His death, those who knew about the crime but didn’t prevent it, those who close eyes are still living under “the security of dark labyrinths”.

You killed Him. You believed that by killing one of the bravest sons of this country, you will manage to eliminate the strong voice and brave heart coming from Him.  

But you were wrong.  

Your brain, blinded with racist-nationalist prejudices, was unable to consider this. You couldn’t understand that by His murder thousands, tens of thousands will be born from Him.

You couldn’t and didn’t understand that after the crime hundreds of thousands will meet in the place of His murder and will shout: “We all are Hrant Dink”.

You couldn’t understand Him even when He was alive. On the day of adoption of the law on “The denial of the 1915 Armenian Genocide is a crime” in the French Parliament in 1998, he said: “I will go to Paris and standing on a rock at the Concorde square I will shout: “In 1915 genocide was not committed against Armenians in Anatolia”. The French state will hold one of my hands and will take me. Then, I will return to Ankara, and will again shout standing on a rock: “Genocide was committed against Armenians in 1915 in Anatolia”. The state will hold the other hand and will take me. But I will not refuse to say what I know. We can face with the fact of genocide by discussing and speaking about it, rather than by laws…”.
