Russian-Georgian relations’ out of crisis is beneficial for Armenia – says Expert on Georgian
Studies

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 31, ARMENPRESS. The Georgian Dream party, having a constitutional majority in the Georgian Parliament, will have a right to independently carry out the country’s domestic plans and solve issues in its foreign policy, Expert on Georgian Studies Jony Melikyan told “Armenpress”.

He said the ruling party’s responsibility is going to be quiet serious. Referring to Georgia’s foreign policy, Jony Melikyan said the Euro-Atlantic direction will be dominant, but in line with it they will continue normalizing relations with Russia, China and the US.

“It will be very beneficial for Armenia that the Russian-Georgian relations will not be in crisis. The Georgian Dream will try to continue the policy on improving the Russian-Georgian relations. In my opinion previously it was to some extent limited since there were other parties in the coalition that had various views over the Russian-Georgian relations. The founder of the Georgian Dream is Bidzina Ivanishvili who is in favor of broader and deeper Russian-Georgian relations”, Jony Melikyan said adding that at this moment the political issues still persist in that relations which will not be solved in the long run.

Earlier Sputnik News reported more than 50 percent of the ballots have been counted, the ruling Georgian Dream party looked set to have the majority in the parliament, following the second round of the parliamentary elections.

The Georgian Dream candidates are in the lead in 48 out of 50 electoral districts, the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) data showed.
