“Halo Trust” wants to conduct mine clearance activities in NKR’s Myurishen village

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 20, ARMENPRESS. “Halo Trust” organization wants to conduct mine clearance activities Myurishen village of Martuni region in Nagorno Karabakh Republic. The organization has announced about launching a fund raising program for that goal, “Armenpress” reports the press service of “Halo Trust” organization informs. It is mentioned that the minefield covers a territory of 1.8 hectare that puts the lives of 500 residents of the village, as well as the residents of neighboring Vazgenashen village under risk. The minefield clearance will prevent possible tragic incidents, which will give the local people an opportunity to engage in their daily life without fear.

At least 5 people have been injured by mine explosion in Myurishen village since 1995. “Halo Trust” conducted mine clearance activities in 3 fields of the village in 2007 and 2011, removing 38 antipersonnel mines, 2 anti-tank mines and 3 explosive substances.

Mikayel Merjumianm, resident of Myurishen who had been injured by a mine explosion in the past, expressed satisfaction that finally the field will be cleared. “It gives hope that future generations will live in safety”, he said.
