Harlem Désir hails authorizing mandate on starting Armenia-EU agreement negotiations

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13, ARMENPRESS. France's Secretary of State for European Affairs Harlem Désir hails confirmation of the mandate by the European External Action Service by which the European Commission authorizes to launch negotiations over framework agreement between the EU and Armenia. As “Armenpress” was informed from the French Embassy in Armenia, the statement of France's Secretary of State for European Affairs mentions about this.

“This decision is an important stage for the relations between the EU and Armenia which has been Eastern Partnership country since 2009. According to the exceptional association formula supported by France, the future agreement must provide opportunity to reinforce economic, political and cultural ties between Armenia and the European Union, at the same time, respecting the decision of Armenia to join the Eurasian Economic Union.

Confident in the constructive engagement of Armenian authorities in the negotiations, Secretary of State for European Affairs urges to sign that agreement quickly and reconfirms France’s readiness to assist Armenia in modernization of the country and in important reforms necessary for economic development”, reads the statement.
