settlement

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 10, ARMENPRESS. Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met On October 10 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs on the sidelines of the 31st session of Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). “Armenpress” was informed by the Department of Press, Information and Public Relations of Armenia Foreign Ministry that Minister Nalbandian attached importance to the regular consultations between Armenia and Latvia held for the fostering of the development of multi-dimensional bilateral cooperation.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception and the high-level of organization of OIF Conference of Ministers, Minister Rinkēvičs characterized the symbolic first ever participation of the Foreign Minister of Lativia at the OIF Conference of Ministers in Yerevan. The Ministers exchanged thoughts over the results of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga. In this context, Foreign Minister of Latvia thanked for the constructive participation of Armenia at the Summit.

During the meeting, Ministers Nalbandian and Rinkēvičs touched upon possibilities of establishment of cooperation between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. Foreign Minister of Armenia presented efforts exerted by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs towards a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, escalated situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone – a result of Azerbaijan's provocations. In this regard, Edgars Rinkēvičs emphasized that Latvia fully supports the efforts of the OSCE MG Co-Chairs and proposals made by them.

Development unfolding in the Middle East, migration flows and efforts exerted to solve those challenges were on the agenda of the meeting.
