YEREVAN, AUGUST 25, ARMENPRESS. The participants of the military and sports contest-gathering “Union 2015: Descendants of Victory” came to Armenia with cognitive objectives. Vitaly Voskanyan, Co-chair of the event, colonel and director of Military and Sports College named after Monte Melkonyan, noted in his talk with the journalists that they started the cognitive visits from “Mother Armenia” memorial as the topic of the event was the Great Patriotic War.

“We want to show that what happened 70 years ago during the Great Patriotic War is not forgotten. We will do all within our powers to familiarize the participants with the history and culture of the Republic of Armenia.”, added Voskanyan.

The participants of the gathering paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War in “Victory Park”, laid wreaths at the eternal flame and made cognitive visit to “Mother Armenia” museum.

“The participants of the gathering are amazed; it is an unprecedented event and there are even discussions related to what’s going to happen  in 2016 and whether the high quality of the event can be provided.  The President of the Republic of Armenian visited the gathering of Tsaghkadzor on August 22 and suggested to organize such events 1-2 times in a year.”, said Voskanyan adding  that in contrast to last year’s events, this year the teams were formed from the participants of all the countries  and there were no national team contests.

“Union 2015:  Descendants of Victory” military sports gathering is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War and aims to develop patriotism and friendship among the children.
