Increase of electricity tariff to be subsidized by funds received from ‘Vorotan” sale

The Government of the Republic of Armenia will subsidize the increase of electricity tariff by the funds received from the sale of Vorotan Cascade Hydro Power Plants. “Armenpress” reports that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan informed about this during an interview with journalists in Gyumri.
“The Government of the Republic of Armenia takes the burden of the increase of the electricity tariff until the audit is over in the Electric Networks of Armenia. The President of the Republic of Armenia has also announced about it. The expenses will be subsidized by the funds received from the alienation of Vorotan Cascade Hydro Power Plants”, the PM mentioned.
Demonstrations took place after the decision was made by the Public Services Regulatory Commission to increase the electricity tariff by 6.93 drams. Later, The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan announced about the decision to conduct an audit in ENA. After that another decision was made according to which the Government had to take the burden of the increase of the tariff.
