YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. Harutyun Melikyan, a second grade pupil at Stephan Jrbashyan music school, occupied the 2nd place in the 5th International Piano Competition María Herrero which took place in Granada, Spain.

As Armenpress was informed from the Department of Media and Public Relations of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, 67 participants from 26 countries took part in the competition which was held in July 20-24.

The young Armenian musician, participating in the competition with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, performed Ludwig  van  Beethoven’s “Rondo”, Edvard Grieg’s “Butterfly”, Isaac Berkovich’s “Variations on a Theme by Paganini”, Pyotr  Tchaikovsky’s “Waltz”, Arno Babajanian’s ”Humoresque”. The prestigious jury composed of prominent musicians evaluated the young musicians.
