Armenia welcomes the EU’s position on the regulation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

YEREVAN, 27 MAY, ARMENPRESS. The formulation in regard to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in the joint declaration adopted on the sidelines of the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga is a consolidated approach in that the EU supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and sees the regulation of the issue based on the Co-Chairs’ statements. This is whatDeputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Karen Nazaryan mentioned during a discussion on the report on the 2014 State Budget of the Republic of Armenia at the National Assembly, responding to Deputy of the Prosperous Armenia Party’s faction Vahan Babayan’s question.

He added that the European Union is involved in the regulation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict via the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus. “It is known that Armenia has welcomed the Special Representative’s appointment since the first day of appointment, and we praise the support that the EU has expressed to the efforts of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs for the peaceful regulation of the issue. This has been and still is our official approach,” Karen Nazaryan emphasized.
