The Centennial won’t mark the end; we’ll be working constantly until we achieve
international recognition of the Armenian Genocide: Armenian President

YEREVAN, 27 MAY, ARMENPRESS. On May 27, the Board of Trustees of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund held its 24th session at the Reception Home of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The session was moderated by Chairman of the Board of Trustees, President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. As the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Structure to the Office of the President of the Republic of Armenia, prior to the session, the members of the Board of Trustees respected the memory of the member of the late member of the Board of Trustees Eduardo Seferian from Argentina with a moment of silence.

After approving the agenda and watching the film about the projects carried out through funding provided by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund last year, the Board of Trustees began discussions, during which the Board approved the three-year term of office of Executive Director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Ara Vardanyan starting from May 27, 2015.

The Executive Director presented the report of the Fund’s Executive Board on the activities carried out last year, and the Board approved it. The Audit Committee’s report was presented by member of the Audit Committing Vahe Jazmadarian and member of the auditing organization Emil Vasilian.

President Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to Mr. Jazmadarian for his helpful and longstanding activities and informed the Board about his decision to grant the first degree medal “For Services to the Homeland” to Vahe Jazmadarian.

The Board of Trustees granted the certificate of a Benefactor Member to Chairman of the U.S. Eastern Region local chapter, benefactor Antranig Baghdassarian, who has donated nearly $900,000 dollars for the implementation of the Fund’s projects to this day.

President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakyan delivered a report on the goals of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Telethon-2015.

President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan talked about his considerations regarding the report and the proposals that were made.

“First, I am very happy and proud that we succeeded in implementing the decision taken during our session held in 2013 and managed to turn the Fund’s dilapidated building located near Komitas Pantheon into the Komitas Museum-Institute in collaboration with “Pyunik” Foundation. The Komitas Museum-Institute is truly a place that will help educate the youth, present Armenian culture to tourists and help develop the studies on Komitas.

Secondly, I must briefly reflect on the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The events were funded and continue to be funded through donations. Many Armenians, mainly Armenian businessmen and organizations of Armenia and the Russian Federation sponsored large programs such as the global forum “Against the Crime of Genocide and the commemoration ceremony at Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex, as well as System of a Down’s concert and the “Renaissance” concert/action, which was held with the participation of over 100 musicians from different countries around the world. One of the events was the Canonization ceremony, which was held at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and sponsored by the Armenian General Benevolent Union.

You are aware that the Armenian pavilion was recognized as the winner of the Venice Biennale. These days exhibitions, concert series, scientific conferences continue, and new books are being published and plays are being presented in different parts of the world. I attach great importance to the active participation of our compatriots in those events.

During the next session, the administration in charge of holding the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide will deliver a detailed financial and substantial report and will present the required audit opinion.

There will be many events on the days marking the independence of the Republic of Armenia in September, and they will end with the blessing of the Holy Muron at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on September 27. The sixth session of the State Commission on Coordination of the events for the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will also be held on those days. On those days, we will definitely reflect on the Armenian benefactors, members of the Commission, leaders of the regional committees who didn’t spare efforts to properly organize and hold the events dedicated to the Centennial.

I would like to inform you that we will be reflecting on and appreciating the officials who participated in the events at the end of the year. This is also due to the fact that there are still many events to be held. I believe we’ll all have the chance to analyze the work that has been done for the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide and not only to show how many people actively participated, but also to draw conclusions and make the events more effective in the years to come. The Centennial won’t mark the end. We’ll be working constantly until we achieve international recognition of the Armenian Genocide,” President Serzh Sargsyan said.
