Armenia’s sports-school students get athletic outfit with support of Devejian family

GAVAR, MAY 7, ARMENPRESS: All the 1802 students of different age of nine sports-schools of Gegharkunik Region of Armenia have been presented athletic outfit with the initiative of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund and the financial support of the Devejian family of Argentina. The representative of the Gegharkunik Administration Gegham Charvadaryan told Armenpress that the outfit was provided to all the community students of the region.
The athletic outfit name by name was provided by the representatives of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. The Gavar Municipality's Public Relations responsible stated that 295 athletes of the regional and urban sports-schools got the outfit, for which the Mayor of Gavar Gurgen Martirosyan awarded the Devejian family with a letter of appreciation.
Earlier it was reported that with the initiative and financial support of the Devejian family of Argentina, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is implementing the “5,000 Athletic Outfits for Sports-school Students” project in Armenia’s Tavush, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, and Syunik regions. The project, which was launched in March, will be completed this month.

The athletic outfits will be distributed to the 4,927 students between the ages of six and 16 enrolled in the above-mentioned regions’ 28 sports schools. Beneficiaries of the Devejians’ generosity also include the 73 students of the school of Bavra, in Armenia’s Shirak Region, who study in a school that was furnished and provided with a computer classroom with the support of the family. Moreover, the youngsters’ lives have been enriched by the availability of a library, a health clinic, and events halls at their community center, whose construction was likewise sponsored by the Devejians.

Two other projects in the homeland made possible by the Devejian family are the newly built community center of Karin Tak, a village in Artsakh’s Shushi Region, with the co-sponsorship of the government of Artsakh, as well as the community’s renovated school gym.

“Five thousand seems to be a symbolic number for the Devejian family,” said Ara Vardanyan, executive director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. “About a year ago, the family donated 5,000 sports balls to schools throughout Armenia. We certainly hope that the Devejians go on to support as many projects in the homeland,” Vardanyan added jokingly.
