Sharmazanov says opposition’s recent struggle isn’t ideological

YEREVAN, 4 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Edward Sharmazanov is of the opinion that the Armenian opposition’s recent struggle against the government wasn’t ideological. During a press conference at the National Assembly, Sharmazanov also said if the struggle was ideological, the political forces remaining after one political figure’s refusal to hold a rally wouldn’t find themselves out of the political game. “If the opposition’s struggle was ideological, one political figure stepping out of the game wouldn’t leave the other political forces out of the game as well,” Sharmazanov mentioned, as “Armenpress” reports.

When asked if the Republican Party of Armenia would likely be an opposition in the near future, Sharmazanov mentioned that that would be by the people’s will. “If you’re in politics, you don’t decide if you’re part of the government or part of the opposition. The people will determine if I am in government or a member of the opposition through elections,”the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly mentioned.
