YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 13, ARMENPRESS. The ministry of territorial administration is preparing a draft law aimed at raising the role of city councils, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said during the debate of the government’s Action Plan in parliament, reports Armenpress.

“Currently we are preparing a legislative initiative, which, I am confident will lead to heated discussions. We think that it is necessary to certainly increase the role of the city councils by taking into account these political developments. In some cases to provide powers to the city councils to solve the issue of the municipal leader’s dismissal. Now the territorial administration ministry is working on this legislative initiative, and the bill will soon be submitted to parliament”, Pashinyan noted.
