PM Pashinyan, IT company representatives discuss development prospects of the field

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 9, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a luncheon with the members of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) and the representatives of the IT companies, the PM’s Office told Armenpress.

The meeting participants touched upon the process of preparation works of the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) which will be held in Yerevan in autumn 2019. The responsible persons stated that the works are being carried out in accordance with the timetable. The government has provided the necessary funds for holding the event at the highest level.

PM Pashinyan said during his meetings with the international partners, also those held in Davos, he personally invited the heads of a number of leading organizations to attend the Congress. He highlighted holding this major event in Armenia and stated that it will enable Armenia to expand and strengthen its position on the IT world map.

The meeting participants also discussed the IT field development prospects, the future programs and main directions. In particular, they attached importance to the implementation of educational programs aimed at preparing qualified cadres. Nikol Pashinyan said the development of IT sector is going to be one of the priorities of the government, and the state is interested in continuing the close cooperation with the companies of the field.

The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) is the largest and the most reputable international event among worldwide IT leaders.

It brings together high-level officials from different countries, heads of multinational organizations, universities and scientific research centers, non-governmental organizations' representatives and many more.

The event includes discussions of legal, political and economic trends affecting IT business processes, presentations of innovative solutions, B2B meetings and so on.
