Armenian Premier attends Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting – trade rises 3 fold in EEU

YEREVAN, MAY 26, ARMENPRESS. The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting, attended by Armenian Premier Karen Karapetyan, took place in Russia’s Kazan. “Armenpress” reports the meeting was also attended by Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev, Belarusian Premier Andrei Kobyakov, Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan BakytzhanSagintayev, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Board Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan.

Dmitry Medvedev noted that all the member states derive benefit from the membership to the EEU despite some ongoing obstacles. “From strategic standpoint we all understand that this is the right choice and the more aspects join the reality, but not the integration on paper, the more opportunities the member states will have in terms of the common market, joint ventures. We see what kind of difficulties undergoes the global economy. And despite the unfavorable global conjuncture, the main social-economic indicators of our countries improve step by step. It’s also than to our joint efforts”, the Russian Prime Minister said. According to Medvedev, during the first quarter of 2017 trade turnover in EEU has nearly tripled against the same period of 2016. “The rise is already noticeable. The supplies to the third countries have also increased in the same pace. Overall, they have increased by 30 billion USD. It’s particularly important that the positive tendencies are present in all the 5 member states”, the Russian Premier said.
