YEREVAN, MAY 3, ARMENPRESS. Sergey Avetisyan, head of the general department of civil aviation of Armenia, says he is hopeful Taron Avia, the Armenian airline which operates flights from Gyumri en route Russia, will find its place among both international and Armenian aviation markets.

Avetisyan told a press conference on May 3 a positive progress is observed lately in terms of Armenian airlines. He reminded that Taron Avia has already started to operate flights from Gyumri’s Shirak airport to Russia.

“They currently operate flights in three destinations – Krasnodar, Rostov on Don and Samara. This was one of the actions which proved that Shirak airport has big potential, Gyumri has big potential in terms of both tourism development and altogether. I believe the airline will find its place in our market and abroad, by bringing tourists to our country and namely to Gyumri”, he said.

He added discussions are currently underway with several Iranian airlines in terms of launching Tehran-Gyumri flights.

Avetisyan says this will also positively impact both the aviation market and development of tourism.
