NKR Constitutional referendum serves as example for all countries of the region - Sharmazanov

STEPANAKERT, FEBRUARY 21, ARMENPRESS. Karabakh is moving towards the way on building a democratic state, Deputy Speaker of Armenia’s Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov told reporters on February 21, reports “Armenpress”.

“The Constitutional referendum showed that the people of Karabakh are united. The referendum and the assessments of the international observers showed that Karabakh is moving towards the way on building a democratic state. After the April events, this was the first pan-state event in Karabakh, and the people of NKR jointly showed that regardless of any military adventure they will steadily move on the way of building free and independent state”, Sharmazanov said, stating that the referendum in Karabakh can serve as an example for all states of the region.

The Central Commission of the NKR referendum considered the Constitutional changes draft adopted. 69.540 citizens, overall, 87.6% of the voters, voted in favor of the constitutional referendum, and 7686 citizens voted against. 2202 ballots (2.8%) were declared invalid. 79.428 (76.5% of the total number of voters) out of 103.766 citizens took part in the voting.
