Gladys Berejiklian may become Premier of New South Wales - The Huffington Post

YEREVAN, JANUARY 19, ARMENPRESS. After the unexpected resignation of the Prmier of Australia’s New South Wales, Gladys Berejiklian of Armenian origin has confirmed her intention to stand for the Premier.

“Armenpress” reports The Huffington Post informs that Gladys Berejiklian is Australian-Armenian and the granddaughter of survivors of the Armenian genocide. Berejiklian's parents immigrated to Australia in the 1960s and Berejiklian was born in the Sydney northern suburb of Willoughby in 1970.

A decade after joining the Liberal Party, Berejiklian was elected as the Member for Willoughby in 2003. She was appointed Minister for Transport in 2011

“Berejiklian’s toughest supporter is the outgoing Premier. The outcomes of the internal reorderings of the Liberal Party will be known next week, writes The Huffington Post.
