YEREVAN, APRIL 6, ARMENPRESS: The Press Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia Artsrun Hovhannisyan made public the photos of both exploded and unexploded missiles of heavy multiple rocket launcher “Smerch” used by Azerbaijani armed forces against Nagorno-Karabakh despite the denial by the Azerbaijani side. Hovhannisyan also told “Armenpress” that “Smerch” missiles have cluster munition parts which would inflict heavy causalities in case of heating civilian objects. This was Azerbaijan’s initial intention.

Azerbaijan has used this weapon both on the northern and southern directions of the Line of Contact with Nagorno-Karabakh defense forces.

According to the official information, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh do not possess the weaponry of this kind.

The international humanitarian law prohibits the use of cassette munitions against civilian population.
