President Serzh Sargsyan and EPP’s Joseph Daul touch upon current stage of Nagorno Karabakh conflict

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 22, ARMENPRESS. President of the Republic of Armenia met President of the European People's Party (EPP) Joseph Daul on October 22. At the beginning of the meeting Serzh Sargsyan congratulated Joseph Daul for his reelection as EPP President during EPP Congress on October 21 and wished him success expressing hopes that EPP headed by Daul would continue its mission as the most influential political force of Europe and would justify the expectations of European voters.

As “Armenpress” was informed by the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Office to the President of the Republic of Armenia the interlocutors discussed issues related to further development of cooperation with the EPP, perspectives for EU-Armenia relations, fostering interparty ties between the Republican Party of Armenia and EPP, Armenia’s cooperation with EPP partners on international platforms, as well as general issues and challenges which will also be referred to during EPP extended format summit today.    

The President of Armenia and EPP President also touched upon the present stage of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict negotiation process in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and the existing issues. The parties exchanged thoughts on the situation in the Middle East and refugee crisis.

President Sargsyan noted that he recalled with warmth Mr. Daul’s visit to Armenia and participation in the events commemorating the Armenian Genocide by which according to Serzh Sargsyan EPP President reaffirmed his and his party’s commitment to universal human values on which European integration is based. Emphasizing the importance of the resolution “The Armenian Genocide and European Values” by EPP, President Serzh Sargsyan thanked EPP President and those EPP representatives in PACE who joined the statement.
