YEREVAN, AUGUST 26, ARMENPRESS. ARS Trio formed in the United Arab Emirates brought together three of the city’s best jazz musicians. “Aremnpress” reports that thenational.ae website published an article about the group.

In the article headlined “Three of UAE’s best in jazz come together to form ARS Trio” is mentioned that the trio presented its first debut album “Time”. The name of the group is formed by the initials of the members: alto saxophonist Artur Grigoryan, drummer Rony Afif and organist Samvel Gasparyan. The website informs that the musicians have not yet presented their new album in UAE.

Samvel Gasparyan, born in Armenia, says that he discovered jazz in his teenage years, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 2003 he moved to the USA and worked as a musician for 9 years in Los Angeles and Tennessee. Artur Grigoryan mentioned that being a little boy he wanted to play the saxophone when he gets older and his dream became a reality. He played in Yerevan clubs for some years, then, in 2012, moved to UAE with Gasparyan where where they played as a duo in various places.

“Artur was kind of bored, he wanted a change – a cruise ship, some way out of the country,” says Gasparyan. “I had the option of Dubai, Shanghai or Singapore – and I chose Dubai.” Later they met Rony Afif who had released a solo album the previous year.
