ETCHMIADZIN, JULY 16, ARMENPRESS. French film director, actor, screen writer, producer, honorable guest at the “Golden Apricot” festival Robert Guédiguian was awarded with “Let there be light” prize. Catholicos of all Armenians Karekin II awarded the famous producer with the prize on July 16, at the Gevorkian theological seminary of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The solemn ceremony of award giving started with the Lord's Pray at the religious capital of Armenia.

“I am sorry that I do not speak Armenian. I am very flattered and happy for this prize. Especially that only the word, light, is directly connected to cinema. Cinema is a light for me in the darkness. It can help people come out of the darkness. I have always been convinced that cinema is directly connected with religion. I am sure that the festival I am the jury President, is full of hope”, as “Armenpress” reports, Robert Guédiguian mentioned, expressing gratitude for the prize.

The founder, Director General of ”Golden Apricot”, producer Harutyun Khachatryan emphasized during the ceremony that there is no need to introduce Robert Guédiguian as the whole world knows him.

“Four years ago, during a meeting with Karekin II we understood that the Church must take part in the activities of “Golden Apricot“. “Let there be light“prize was created by his proposal. People who have become famous to the world for spiritual art were awarded with this prize such as Alexander Sakurov, Artavazd Peleshyan, Kshishtof Zanusi and now Robert Guédiguian“, Harutyun Khachatryan mentioned expressing gratitude to Robert Guédiguian and Karekin II Catholicos.
