American expert doesn't doubt security of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant

YEREVAN, AUGUST 26, ARMENPRESS. Joseph J. Krol, the Director of the Office of Emergency Operations of the U.S. Energy Department, sees no basis to doubt the high level security of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. In a conversation with "Armenpress" the American expert noted that all the measures are taken to ensure the security of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant during its exploitation. Joseph J. Krol, the Director of the Office of Emergency Operations of the U.S. Energy Department, arrived in Armenia along with the delegation of 11 higher officials from the Energy Department of the United States to participate in the aforesaid seminar and organize classes. "We have been cooperating with the Republic of Armenia in the energy sphere for a long time and we have never seen any problems regarding the security of the nuclear power plant in Armenia during this period of time," Joseph J. Krol underlined.

Joseph J. Krol, Rear Admiral, United States Navy (Retired), is the Associate Administrator for NNSA's Office of Emergency Operations. In this role, he is the director of the Office of Emergency Operations, which is responsible for emergency management policy and execution of emergency management support across the Department of Energy's complex. Within the National Nuclear Security Administration, he also is responsible for emergency operations, involving nuclear and radiological emergencies, both within the United States and abroad.
