Armenia submits application to ITU for registration of satellite's orbital position

YEREVAN, AUGUST 12, ARMENPRESS. The Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia submitted an international application to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the registration of the right to geostationary orbital position. The Head of Staff of the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia Gagik Grigoryan stated this responding the inquiry of "Armenpress" News Agency. Among other things the Head of Staff of the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia Gagik Grigoryan highlighted: "We are currently engaged in the preparatory activities advancing the upcoming negotiations with a number of international organizations regarding the possible support to the satellite program of the Republic of Armenia."

In addition it was noted that one of the largest and most influential state companies of China is interested in co-financing the Armenian satellite program, as well. The preliminary cost of realization of the Armenian satellite program is USD 250 million.
