YEREVAN, APRIL 8, ARMENPRESS. Not in the far past, before the existence of dozens of hospitals and clinics, the majority of births took place at houses by the help of an obstetrician. Usually the child's father did not participate in the process of childbirth. There was a tradition in the USSR, when after the birth the child was introduced to the father, that is to say the man did not partake in the whole process, when mother gave birth to the child.

During the recent years father's presence during the childbirth is far from being considered as something exotic. It has already become a widespread phenomenon.

Husband's presence encourages the woman during the childbirth

Lilit Hambardzumyan, who has become mother for the first time few months ago, did not even doubt about her husband’s participation in the childbirth process. They have made a decision that the father will indispensably partake in the process long ago. She recalled that her husband was very watchful and overcame the anxiety.
