YEREVAN, OCTOBER 6, ARMENPRESS. The Global Innovation Forum (GIF), which was launched in Yerevan on October 5, resumed its activities today.

The Forum started today with a panel discussion entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Everyday Life”.

“Artificial intelligence is currently being used in various medical devices. There are more than 300 thousand medical devices now, but not all have artificial intelligence”, Hovakim Zakaryan, Co-founder and CEO of Denovo Sciences Inc., said in his remarks, adding that all medical devices, regardless of whether they use artificial intelligence or not, must be in the field of regulation.

He mentioned the medical app Flo, which has millions of users. “But several years ago the Federal Trade Commission presented a complaint against it, understanding that all data are becoming available to a third person, including Google. That’s why protecting the security of data is so important if they are collected via medical apps”, he said.

Ahmed Rashad Riad, Senior Director, Strategy and Industry Development of Huawei, in turn proposed the idea who should regulate the work of financial technologies, Central Bank or people responsible for technologies? Ahmed Rashad Riad called this issue a serious challenge.

The Global Innovation Forum has been organized by the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST). The Forum is being held since 2017. This year the Forum is on “Life Altering Technologies”, with the focus on multisectoral use of AI and its impact on people’s activities.
