Pashinyan announces completion of transitional period, launch of comprehensive strategic work

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. The Government of Armenia will provide more time to works related to strategies and works of strategic nature, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting on the National Security Strategy.

“Why now? Certainly, since the very first day of our government’s formation we carried out very active work around our strategic ideas, and now, we have essentially reached a phase, or to be more accurate we can note that we have completed our work of transitional administration logic, because you know that after the 2018 revolutionary changes this phase was unavoidable and we had to have some transitional period of time. And why are we noting that I find this transitional period to be completed? Firstly it is related to the economy, the modern situation of our economy and our macroeconomic situation. As you know, a 7,5% economic growth was recorded in Armenia with results of the first nine months. This isn’t the economic activity indicator, but economic growth, which means that we have solved our objective of this phase of the economic revolution. Not only have we solved the issue of stabilizing the economy after the revolution, but we have also laid all foundations for securing sustainable and high economic growth,” he said.

The next issue of importance in this context, according to the prime minister, is that the government has succeeded in solving the most urgent foreign policy issues during the past 1 and a half years.

“In this context I find it very important to note that our government has been able to position itself in accordance to current ideas, strategic interests and goals in the NK conflict settlement negotiations process. The next important note, that I have to make, is the following, that we have succeeded, and this is already reality, to ensure in Armenia democratic sustainability long term, and note that this stability is based on political realities having the vote of trust of the Armenian people. It is very important to also note that in 2018 we assumed the responsibility of leading Armenia in a period of constitutional transitioning and we must note that this constitutional transitioning from a semi-presidential administration system to a parliamentary administration system is an accomplished reality,” he said.

“At this phase we must recap our strategic views, and we, as government, must also propose the public the logic as to what kind of a country Armenia must be in our view five years later, ten years later, twenty, thirsty, and more,” Pashinyan said, noting that in the rapidly changing modern world the “means to reach the goal can be subject to very serious changes”.
