Government approves bill to make amendments in Law on Pardon

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian government today adopted the bill on making changes and amendments in the Law on Pardon.

The issue was introduced by justice minister Rustam Badasyan during today’s Cabinet meeting.

“The adoption of the bill is conditioned with the necessity to make the institute of granting pardon more transparent and accountable, to ensure the protection of interests of people affected by crime, to solve certain issues in practice connected with the pardon institute and improve the legislative provisions. The bill also defined the cases of not discussing the pardon requests and returning them back, in particular these cases are linked with the early release, release from jail on other grounds in order to avoid discussing these requests”, the minister.

A number of other regulations are also envisaged by the bill.
