Government sets first ever Lake Sevan fishing regulation for crayfish and common whitefish
YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. The Government of Armenia adopted a decision at the November 21 Cabinet meeting aimed at regulating fishing in Lake Sevan. The regulation will cover the restoration, preservation, reproduction and volumes for industrial fishing of crayfish and fish.
Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan said this is the first time that the government is passing a decision like this.
He said the purpose of the regulation is to shift the fishing activities to a framework of law.
“The bill attempts to regulate the relations of recording, reproduction and fishing of crayfish and common whitefish in Lake Sevan through adopting this procedure”, he said, adding that the ministry has other relating legislative initiatives too. The minister said the goal is to set clear rules for the fishing activities.
