Agreement with EU is a mutual agenda to make democracy stronger in Armenia – PM

MILAN, NOVEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. Democracy is a national value for the Armenian people, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) in Milan.

He stated that Armenia is in the economic integration process with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), but also is closely cooperating with the European Union within the frames of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which, according to the PM, is a mutual agenda to make democracy stronger in Armenia. “I want to state that democracy has not been imported or brought from other country to Armenia. It’s very important to understand that democracy is in the minds of our people, democracy is our national value. This was proved when hundreds of thousands of people stood up for the sake of democracy, rule of law, fight against corruption, and for the establishment of a real democracy in Armenia”, the PM said.

Pashinyan added that the 2018 revolution in Armenia was a result of completely domestic processes, no foreign force was included in these processes. According to the PM, this was the most important reason that made the revolution possible through peaceful means, without violence and casualties.

PM Nikol Pashinyan arrived in Italy on November 20 on an official visit.
