President Sarkissian hosted at Armenian Embassy in Doha, Qatar
YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS. President Armen Sarkissian visited the Embassy of Armenia in Doha on the sidelines of his official visit to Qatar, the Presidential Office told Armenpress.
The Armenian Embassy in Qatar opened this year by the support of the Emir of Qatar and the government.
President Sarkissian was welcomed by Armenian Ambassador Gegham Gharibjanyan, Very reverent Father Boghos Tinkjian, Pastor of the Armenian Diocese of Qatar, the representatives of the Armenian community and the students of the Mesrobian Armenian college.
The Armenian President considered that day as historic and awaited for all. “Qatar is a friendly country with good people. We all have waited for the opening of the Embassy for a long time. During my visits and meetings with most of you we were talking about the eventual opening of the Armenian Embassy in Qatar”, Armen Sarkissian said. “Today this is a reality, and I think that your life, especially that of the Armenian community of Qatar will greatly change because you will be more and directly connected with the homeland, the presence of the homeland will not only be in your hearts, but also in your daily life. I think Armenia and Qatar have a lot to do in political, economic sectors, business relations and cultural life. The Embassy should act as a bridge not only connecting you with the homeland, but also intensifying the Armenia-Qatar relations. In other words, I expect that each of you will be actively engaged and will participate in the development of the Armenia-Qatar relations”.
The Armenian President congratulated all those present on the occasion of the opening of the Embassy, especially the Emir of Qatar and the Qatari people for supporting this process. “The opening of the Embassy wouldn’t be possible without the good will and the material support of the Emir of Qatar”, he said. “This is a unique step of friendship, and each of us should appreciate it and do everything to strengthen and expand this friendship, the brotherly ties between the two peoples. Therefore, welcome to the Embassy of Armenia, welcome to your home!”
