Armenian Embassy in RF expresses deep frustration over incident in Armenian Church in
Russian city

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS. The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Russia has commented on the incident that member of the City Duma of Armavir (Krasnodar Region) Aleksey Vinogradov pained the memorial board dedicated to Garegin Nzhdeh located in the territory of an Armenian church in Armavir City. As ARMENPRESS was informed from the Facebook page of the Armenian Embassy in Russia, the Embassy expressed deep frustration over the incident.

“We assess the actions of member of the City Duma of Armavir (Krasnodar Region) Aleksey Vinogradov as acts of vandalism and arbitrariness in the territory of the Armenian Apostolic Church, which contradicts to the legal regulations.

These actions are not in line with the nature of the Armenian-Russian relations and can lead to  interethnic tensions.

It should be emphasized that what has happened in Armavir raised serious concerns both in Armenia, and among our compatriots living in Russia.

The Embassy will inform relevant bodies about the vandalism in the territory of the Armenian church in Armavir in line with the standard procedure.

At the same time, we call on the city authorities of Armavir to give adequate assessment to the incident.

The incident will be in the center of attention of the diplomatic representation. The representatives of the Embassy are in constant touch with the community and the relevant bodies of the Russian Federation”, reads the statement of the Embassy.
