YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Investigators are probing a suspected embezzlement of nearly 50,000,000 drams by administrative staffers of the Union of Artists, the General Prosecution said in a news release.

According to the statement the union’s president contacted authorities on September 25 this year to report financial violations which have taken place from 2017 to 2018 which emerged after studying the financial affairs of the organization.

The prosecution forwarded the materials to police for proceedings.

During the investigation authorities gathered information that “persons in charge” at the Union of Artists of Armenia have embezzled nearly 50 million drams in assets and funds of the organization during the abovementioned period by committing various kinds of violations.

The Investigations Committee’s Yerevan City Department’s Kentron-Nork Marash Division has been tasked to carry out the investigation.

No suspects have been named so far.
