Armenian Search and Rescue Team brought to high-level readiness for potential Iran support 
mission

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Director of the Armenian Rescue Service (under the Ministry of Emergency Situations) Major General Vrezh Gabrielyan has chaired a regular weekly consultation of the service, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a news release.

Heads of different divisions of the service and chiefs of the Yerevan city department and provincial departments briefed Major General Gabrielyan on the current works and existing issues.

Rescue Forces Department Chief Colonel Tigran Petrosyan said that after the earthquake in Iran the urban Search and Rescue Team of Armenia – which is in line with INSARAG standards – has been brought to the highest level of readiness and is on stand-by to be dispatched to Iran for assistance if needed.

Earlier Minister of Emergency Situations Felix Tsolakyan had said Armenia is ready to provide help to Iran is required.

A number of other issues were also discussed at the meeting.

Major General Gabrielyan tasked the provincial departments to monitor the maintenance of rules of switching to a winter mode.

The Rescue Forces Department was tasked to ensure the duly organization of upcoming tactical drills which will be held at the Yerevan Sports and Concerts Complex after K. Demirchyan and will also feature aerial support scenario.
