YEREVAN, OCTOBER 28, ARMENPRESS. The Special Investigation Service of Armenia filed charges against former Speaker of Parliament Ara Babloyan, the SIS told Armenpress.

Babloyan has been charged with Paragraph 1 Article 300 (appropriating power) and Paragraph 1 Article 314 (official falsification) of the Criminal Code.

Signature on not leaving has been chosen as a precautionary measure against Babloyan.

The former speaker told reporters that at the moment he cannot release many details. “I can only state that I absolutely do not agree with the charge and have announced that it is illegal. What I have done, I did under the Constitution and within laws”, he said.

Based on the sufficient evidence obtained during the investigation of the case being examined by the Special Investigative Service,  former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Parliament Arsen Babayan has been charged with Paragraph 1 Article 38-300 and Paragraph 1 Article 314 of the Criminal Code, and former Speaker of Parliament Ara Babloyan is involved as a suspect in the same criminal case (suspected in appropriating power).
