Armenia International Airports to invest 20 million USD for Gyumri’s airport

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 16, ARMENPRESS. The Armenia International Airports CJSC is planning to make an investment worth 20 million USD for the development of the airport of Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia, General Manager Marcelo Wende of Armenia International Airports said during today’s press conference.

He also announced the entry of the Irish RyanAir airline to the Armenian aviation market. The airline will operate flights to Yerevan and Gyumri, increasing the frequency of flights every year.

“The company will bring great benefits to the country with new destinations and many tourists. Armenians will have an opportunity to travel at various destinations and with cheap tickets. It’s important for the airport of Gyumri to develop because the Armenian government is also interested in it. In April, when the RyanAir will start the flights, the arrival hall will be ready there enabling to accept new flights”, he said.

Gyumri’s Shirak airport operates since 1961 and is considered Armenia’s second alternative international airport.
