Pashinyan considers artificial intelligence an opportunity to develop human thinking

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says the artificial intelligence, by conducting one part of the mental work, will free the person’s mind so that the human intelligence will discover new directions.

During the Global Innovation Forum (GIF 2019) in Yerevan organized by the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST), the PM said since the beginning of the industrial revolution the man’s fear towards technologies has been recorded. The people’s concern was the following: if the devices carry out the peoples’ work, what people should do?

“But the time led to an interesting situation: it turned out that when the person’s hands get more or less free, first of all the person’s mind is getting free. And that mind receives an opportunity to capture new spaces. Therefore, the technology development is first of all a development of thinking. However, the history of technologies gives us hope that the development of artificial intelligence will free the person’s mind just as in the case when during the first industrial revolution the person’s hands and the human mind got free as a result”, the PM said.

Pashinyan said by saying innovation first of all one should mean the innovation of mind and thinking which in reality changes the world. According to him, in many cases by saying innovation, technologies people understand concrete subjects, tools or even programs, but in fact innovation is taking place in peoples’ thinking. “All IT products are a result of the man’s mind”, he said.

He highlighted the fact for the people in Armenia to overcome all fears. “The fear is the main factor hindering the development, progress everywhere and our aspiration to achieve victory”, the PM said, expressing hope that holding this Forum in Armenia will help the humanity to overcome and control the global fears, and this will perhaps be the most important result they should seek.
