YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian met with Director of Research, Innovation and Technology at IBM Italy Fabrizio Renzi as part of his working visit in Rome, the President’s Office told Armenpress.

This year Fabrizio Renzi visited Armenia and during the meeting with President Armen Sarkissian reached an agreement to start cooperation in preservation of cultural heritage.

The sides stated that the cultural supremacy of the two countries is a serious guarantee to work together. They touched upon the possibilities to make art and culture available for broader layers of the society, highlighting the role of latest technologies, in particular, that of the artificial intelligence in this process. President Sarkissian called this idea very interesting and promising and stated that quite often the technologies are associated only with weapons, the defense field, meanwhile they can play a very important role in the culture sector. It was stated that this sector can become another prospective direction of the Armenian-Italian cooperation.

In particular, Armenia has a huge potential for development of artificial intelligence in art and culture spheres. The creation of an artificial intelligence-based platform in these areas can be interesting for the cooperation of the two countries. They considered creating an online platform which will present the Armenian cultural values not only from Armenia but also the whole world with the use of latest technologies and elements of artificial intelligence.

President Sarkissian highlighted putting these agreements on practical basis, the need for the teams to conduct consistent work, develop concrete timetable and implement the actions. All these plans will be finalized during Fabrizio Renzi’s upcoming visit to Armenia.
