Romania’s Chamber of Deputies adopts bill to declare October 12 Day of Armenian language

BUCHAREST, SEPTEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS. Romania’s Chamber of Deputies (lower house of Parliament) unanimously adopted the bill on declaring October 12 as a Day of Armenian language, alphabet and culture, Armenian Ambassador to Romania Sergey Minasyan told Armenpress.

“I was very proud and delighted to attend today the debate of the bill on declaring October 12 as the Day of Armenian language, alphabet and culture, which was unanimously adopted also by the Chamber of Deputies. I want to thank all members of the Romanian Parliament, specifically ethnic Armenian MPs Varuzhan Pambukchyan and Varuzhan Voskanyan for initiating the bill”, Ambassador Minasyan said.

Earlier the Ambassador said that he met with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies and Members of Parliament to discuss the aforementioned bill. The sides also discussed the cooperation prospects between the Armenian and Romanian parliaments at bilateral and multilateral formats, attaching special importance to the active contacts and intensification of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

On September 18 the Senate (upper house of Parliament) of Romania adopted the bill on declaring October 12 as a Day of Armenian language, alphabet and culture.
