Armenian President’s spouse, Sheikha of Kuwait visit Cafesjian Center for Arts in Yerevan

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Nouneh Sarkissian, spouse of the President of Armenia, and Sheikha of Kuwait, Director General of Kuwait’s Museum of Islamic Antiquities (DAI) Hussah Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah visited the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, a museum in Yerevan, on September 16, the Armenian Presidential Office told Armenpress.

The Kuwaiti delegation members toured the exhibition halls of the Center, got acquainted with its history.

At the end of the tour Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian said like with all the remaining countries, with Kuwait as well Armenia is interested to have close cultural ties. “As Sheikha Hussah is deeply aware of the Arabic culture, we decided to invite here and introduce our culture, with the expectation that we can carry out an exchange. We propose to bring her and her husband’s own collection of Islamic manuscripts and books here. And we will temporarily transfer the collection of Arabic manuscripts from Matenadaran. In this way we will exchange our cultures, because culture, music and books first of all connect peoples”, Mrs. Sarkissian said.

“We are very grateful for this wonderful invitation because Armenia was presented to us in the best way. We are really very excited to be here where we watch different branches of art and culture. We are very impressed. Based on the proposal of our Armenian partners we plan to conduct an exchange of exhibitions. There will be an exhibition from our al-Sabah Collection, and we also want to host an exhibition from Armenia. We are developing a very active project. I think it will be possible to implement next year”, the Sheikha of Kuwait said, who is visiting Armenia for the first time.

“Armenia is in our hearts for a long time. We have many Armenian friends who live in Kuwait, as well as in Syria, Lebanon, etc. We really love and respect them. By visiting their homeland is like visiting the old friends. Armenia is very unique. It’s a place that must be discovered by all. This is a small country with people full of creativity. They are famous in music, literature, art and painting spheres. This is an opportunity for us to know them closer, and thanks to them we understand our own culture”, she said.
