Stepanakert elects Kickboxing Federation boss to be new mayor
09:56, 9 September 2019YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. Preliminary data from polling stations shows that Davit Sargsyan, the President of the Kickboxing Federation of Artsakh, has been elected to serve as the new Mayor of Stepanakert, the capital city of Artsakh.
According to the Central Electoral Commission of Artsakh Sargsyan garnered 7787 votes. Davit Sargsyan, 47, is also the founding director of General Group, a consulting and audit company.
Other candidates for office Areg Avagyan, Arayik Avanesyan, Armen Hakobyan and Grigory Sahakyan garnered 3125, 2108, 3059 and 4765 votes.
The turnout was 21,603 and 807 ballots were declared invalid.
