“Perhaps reality isn’t what it seems” – PM quotes his 2018 Amulsar speech

“Perhaps reality isn’t what it seems” – PM quotes his 2018 Amulsar speech

YEREVAN, AUGUST 19, ARMENPRESS. During today’s discussion regarding the Amulsar gold mine, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reiterated his previous stance: the Government doesn’t have any constraining corruption connection neither with Amulsar nor any other mine or business.

A number of issues related to the Amulsar gold mine project were discussed during the meeting with government officials, residents of Jermuk, environmentalists and other concerned representatives.

During the meeting the PM quoted an earlier statement by himself made over the matter in July of 2018. “Dear countrymen, I urge you to allow the Government to deal with his issue. I do not understand the civil disobedience action which continues taking place in Amulsar. I have a problem in terms of understanding the goal of this action, because it can give way to dual interpretations. We are currently studying as to which interpretation is more accurate. I once again call upon you to stop all civil disobedience actions and enable the Government to deal with these issues and solve these issued based on facts,” Pashinyan said, and added that the Government cannot make ungrounded decisions the accuracy of which they aren’t absolutely convinced in.

During his statement the PM expressed hope that everyone understands that the government doesn’t have any corrupt constraining connection with neither Amulsar nor any other mine or business.

“There isn’t any subject with whom we have any constraint. In any case our actions must be based on facts. We want to have this chance, moreover without a precondition. The civil disobedience actions in this case aren’t understandable for me also, if their goal isn’t sabotage and creating deadlock situations for the government, then I am urging you to stop. Come, help us, and don’t disturb so that we make decisions based exclusively on facts. Perhaps reality isn’t what it seems, because it is possible that the goal of the actions isn’t what it is announced about. This is our stance,” the PM said.

The PM is expected to address the nation in this regard tonight.
