Armenia to have Children’s City

YEREVAN, AUGUST 12, ARMENPRESS. The Government of Armenia has decided to donate land areas to the Armenian Caritas charity organization in the Shahumyan and Taperakan communities of Ararat Province, where the organization plans to build a Children’s City.

According to the local government of Ararat, the Children’s City will feature programs directed at children’s care, preservation of health, upbringing and development and educational services.

Around 600 socially vulnerable children and young people, including those with disabilities, together with their families, will have their homes in the city. Nearly 8000 others can be mediated beneficiaries of the project.

The basis for the Children’s City is the model of a real city for “grown-ups”, with specific infrastructures: kindergarten, elementary and high schools, hospital, sports complex and other facilities.

Residents of this unique city will have the chance to acquire skills and crafts and computer skills, and apply these skills in the local craftwork and agricultural reprocessing plants, guest house, restaurant and other facilities.

The idea behind building the Children’s City belongs to Armenian Caritas. Governor of Ararat Garik Sargsyan has provided direct support for the project. “Children are the descendants and direct continuers of our achievements, the future of our country. We are obliged to do everything possible to ensure their carefree childhood and the right to live happily, comfortably and safely,” the Governor said.

The construction of the Children’s City will begin in autumn 2019.
