Paradise for Foodies: Armenia even offers special Honey and Berry Festival
YEREVAN, AUGUST 7, ARMENPRESS. The 8th Honey and Berry Festival will be organized August 10-12 in Berd, a town in Armenia’s northeastern province of Tavush.
The event is sponsored by the Tavush Spiritual Revival Foundation.
Residents of Berd and nearby towns will present their produce – mostly berries, honey and handicrafts - during the festival.
Tavush Spiritual Revival Foundation Director Armine Tumanyan told ARMENPRESS the festival is a good chance to promote the local produce.
Tumanyan said the festival has already proven useful. She said that the local producers have begun to sell their products online. “Since the produce here stands out with it’s ecologically cleanness, there is no lack of demand”.
Anyone willing to participate in the festival is provided with exhibition pavilions free of charge.
“The idea of the festival is to show that without leaving our homes, without searching for jobs elsewhere it is possible to organize one’s own work here. Successful cases testify that the event has reached its goal,” she said.
The festival will also feature a concert, singing and dancing performances and exhibitions of the work of local artists.
A Honey Cake competition will take place. The State Jazz Orchestra of Armenia will deliver a performance.
“Experience shows that visitors fall in love with both our nature and the delicious food,” Tumanyan added.
The festival was first organized in 2012.
Armenian towns host various similar food festivals frequently, one of them being the upcoming Barbeque Festival.
