Pobeda Airlines wants “clear guarantees” from Shirak Airport to rule out under-fueling

YEREVAN, AUGUST 6, ARMENPRESS. Russia’s Pobeda Airlines will continue operating the Moscow-Gyumri flights if it receives clear guarantees regarding eliminating the under-fueling problem from the city’s Shirak Airport.

“Pobeda will continue operating flights also in case of compensation for the cost of the under-fueled fuel,” Pobeda Airlines spokesperson Yelena Selivanova told ARMENPRESS.

“We don’t have such kind of an agreement at this moment. Under-fueling is a serious safety danger. Imagine if an emergency happens in-flight due to fuel insufficiency. We expect a clearly mentioned volume of fuel for a specific route,” she said.

She said the airlines will continue the flights until the end of the summer season in order not to let down its customers. The low-cost carrier has already cancelled ticket sales for winter months.

However, earlier today the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia said that the “problem between Shirak Airport and Pobeda Airlines has been solved”.

Other details weren’t immediately clear.
